The Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change regulates and oversees waste management operations at the Community Recycling Centre and other waste facilities in the Province. Decisions are governed by the NS Environment Act and its associated regulations.
Environment Act
The purpose of this Act is to support and promote the protection, enhancement and prudent use of the environment, while recognizing goals such as maintaining environmental protection as essential to the integrity of ecosystems, human health and the socio-economic well-being of society.
