Residents of the District of Lunenburg, Town of Bridgewater and Town of Mahone Bay can place two bulky landfill items curbside every two weeks on garbage collection day, throughout the year. 

Wood and metal items are collected during special fall collections for each area. Wood and metal items are not collected bi-weekly. Wood and metal items are collected during a fall collection. These wastes are recycled and diverted from landfill. 

Bi-Weekly Bulky Landfill Collection Guidelines: Items can measure up to 1.8 m (6 feet). Items may weigh up to 100 kgs (220 lbs) in the District and the Towns.

Collectible bulky landfill items: mattresses, boxsprings, couches, upholstered chairs, pillows, plastic furniture, rugs, carpet, toilets, sinks, acrylic bathtubs, doors with windows, vinyl siding, drywall, insulation, laundry baskets, plastic totes, kids swimming pools, artifical Christmas trees, ceramic lamp frames and shades. 

Dishwashers that have plastic doors and plastic interiors are collected during bi-weekly, bulky landfill item pick up. Dishwashers that have metal doors and metal interiors are collected during fall wood and metal collection.
