Electronic items are collected during a special fall pickup in the Town of Mahone Bay, Town of Bridgewater and the Municipality of Lunenburg. Three (3) electronic items can be collected per household. Please ensure items are not smashed when they are placed at the curbside.

Accepted Items include: TVs, cellular and non-cellular phones, GPS devices, DVD players, VCRs, MP3 players, countertop microwaves, videogame systems, external hard drives, modems, computers, desktop printers, fax machines, home and vehicle stereo systems, home theatre systems and video cameras.

Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) has added several new types of electronics items for recycling, as of June 1, 2024.

  • Floor and carpet care appliances: vacuums and carpet cleaners
  • Garment care appliances: irons and steam cleaners
  • Counter-top cooking appliances: food processors, coffee grinders, coffee makers
  • Devices for cutting food items and opening/sealing packages
  • Time measurement devices & weight scales: alarm clocks, wall clocks, food scales, weight scales
  • Personal care appliances: hair dryers, electric toothbrushes
  • Portable air treatment devices: portable fans, heaters, humidifiers (does not include air conditioners)

These items will no longer be collected as bulky landfill or metal items at the curbside. They will be collected during the fall electronics curbside pick ups. The Waste Site at 908 Mullock Road, Whynott’s Settlement accepts these items free of charge, year-round as part of the electronics program.
