Tender 2021 - 002 Residential Organics Collection Carts
The Municipal Joint Services Board, Lunenburg Region has issued a tender for organics collection carts and kitchen bins.
The deadline for submissions will be Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 3:00 pm AST. The deadlines for inquiries will be Friday, August 6th.
Tancook Islands Hazardous Waste Collection Reminder
Tancook Island residents are reminded there will be a household hazardous waste collection Friday, July 30th. Wastes must be placed on the Big Tancook Island ferry wharf by 7:00 am on the 30th. Little Tancook Island residents must transport wastes to Big Tancook wharf for pick up. Residents must speak with the ferry crew if transporting wastes by ferry.
Please ensure liquid wastes such as paint and gas are fully contained. Place items neatly on the wharf to allow room for ferry passengers. Up to 30 passenger vehicle tires will be accepted, per Island. Rims must be removed from tires.

Paper Leaf & Yard Waste Bags for Leaf Collection
Residents are required to use paper leaf bags instead of plastic for curbside collection. The switch to paper will reduce plastic contamination in the organics stream.
Leaves may still be placed in the green cart for collection. Paper bags are available at hardware, department and grocery stores.

Litter Clean Up Incentive Program
The Municipal Joint Services Board is offering an incentive to non-profit and charity groups that collect litter from roadways in the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg, in return for financial reimbursement. Groups will be paid $100.00 per km for cleaning both sides of the road, minimum of 1 km. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis. For more information call (902) 543-2991.
