Solid Waste Manager
The MJSB invites applications for the Solid Waste Manager position. The Solid Waste Service is a shared initiative which provides waste collection and processing for 38,000 residents within the three municipalities. The Municipal Joint Services Board (MJSB), Lunenburg Region, is a joint effort of three partners: Town of Bridgewater, Town of Mahone Bay and the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg to cost share services.
The services includes:
1. Blue Bag and Fibre diversion
2. Compost processing facility
3. Construction and Demolition waste diversion and transfer
4. Residual waste transfer
5. Electronic Waste depot
6. Household Hazardous Waste depot
7. Septic Treatment facility
8. Landfill Site (closed) monitoring program
9. Solid Waste Regulation and By-Law Enforcement and Education
The Manager is responsible for the MJSB Solid Waste Management System including, but not limited to, liaising with Nova Scotia Department of Environment and MJSB member Municipalities to ensure adherence to required Solid Waste permits, Regulations, and By-Laws.
The applicant should have a degree or certificate in chemistry or biology, environment studies, engineering, business related discipline and/or other relevant graduate degree and a minimum of three years related experience in solid waste management and managerial experience. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
